LRHS students show off their UTC card.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- On Monday, Nov. 16 five Mustangs presented an eight-by-four-foot piece of artwork to the holiday greeting card display competition held by the University Town Center Mall (UTC).

The team of Mustang artists had over a month to complete the oversized holiday card in hopes of winning the first-place prize of $250 toward the art program here at the Ranch.

The University Town Center mall provided a blank 4’x8’ plywood board and $50 towards art supplies needed for the project.

LRHS fine arts teacher and project organizer Laura Victore said, “The project took about three weeks from start to finish and the Mustangs worked tirelessly towards their goal of winning the contest.”

On Saturday, Nov. 21 the viewing of all holiday cards from every school will be open to the public.

Junior Ana Olson was the lead student designer on the project.

“I was inspired to create a carousel horse that had escaped his position on the carousel to flee off into the joyous season, and I think we completed that goal,” she said.

Olson said the project could not have been completed without freshman Margret Birmingham, sophomores Amber Toler and Ian Magee, and juniors Samuel McCracken and Ava Filewich.

Additional inspirations came from junior Liberty Vagnier, sophomore Gabby Traver, sophomore Makena Murack, junior Carmen Greer and freshman Isabella McCracken who were also included in the project.
