Savannah Else– Mustangs Ahead

Boxes are ready to be filled with Mustangs’ canned goods donations.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Lakewood Leaders has scheduled the annual LRHS canned food drive through Thursday, Nov. 19. Mustangs can submit their canned food items to their first period teachers or can drop them off in room 587.

The school usually participates in the “Mayor’s Feed the Hungry Campaign.” That effort, however, has already reached their goals for items donated this year and are now only accepting only money donations.

LRHS math teacher and Lakewood Leaders adviser Meghan Sugalski said she’s thrilled her club can manage the drive, taking over from Quill and Scroll.

“I am really excited to take over the annual canned food drive. Normally each year my first period donates the most cans, so I am very anxious to see who is going to step up to the plate,” said Sugalski.

In hopes of encouraging Mustangs to donate canned food items, Lakewood Leaders is giving a free Chick-fil-A breakfast to the first period with the most donations.

Last week, St. Josephs donated fifty boxes, each box able to hold thirty cans. Lakewood Leader’s goal is to collect a total of 1,500 cans.
