(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Marching Mustangs are preparing for the middle school band night this upcoming Friday.

Middle school band night is a great opportunity for the band to recruit new members in the following couple of years. It gives kids a chance to experience what a Friday night football game is like for a band or color guard member.

Students get to practice “the arch” that the band stands in for pregame before the game starts and warm up their music in the practice lot beforehand. They are also instructed on how to get on and off the field.

The middle schoolers also get a chance to experience what being on a field and performing is like. The students will participate in the band’s pregame show playing songs like the horse, star spangled banner and alma mater. In addition to the band students, middle school majorettes also get to perform during pregame. Around 300 student musicians will be in the stands Friday night.

Mustang Majorette freshman Tiffany McCoy stated, “Last year at middle school night, my friends and I got to twirl with the majorettes.  It was really exciting to be standing in the middle of the field entertaining and supporting the school.”

Students that participate in middle school band get the chance to play in the stands and dance along with the band. This also gives them a chance to socialize with other students from bands in the area and make new friends throughout the night.
