Emma Chapman– Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This weekend was a success for LRHS athletes.

LRHS Varsity Baseball Head Coach Colton Chupp was named the Sarasota Herald Tribune Baseball Coach of the Year and junior Levi Freed finished in the top 15 the state javelin throw.

Juniors Alex Vaillancourt, Lochlan Radloff, and Ryan Kaitz were also named to the Sarasota Herald Tribune All Area Baseball Team.

The Mustangs ended their season with a 19-8 record. They beat Venice High School to win the district title. They reached the Class 7A-Region two semifinals where they fell to Plant High School.

Vaillancourt was very consistent and had an earned run average of 1.50 and had 52 strikeouts in 56 innings.

Radloff had 54 strikeouts in 39 innings. At the plate he also was impressive, having four doubles, a home run, and 10 RBIs.

Kaitz also aided the Mustangs this season with eight doubles, a triple, a home run, and 11 total runs this season.

 Freed placed 12th in the state, throwing an impressive 49.01 meters.
