(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The second round of the NHL playoffs has ended.  Numerous close series and stars and teams getting knocked out made for some exciting playoff games.

The first series was the Florida Panthers vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Panthers won the series in five, however all but the first game was decided by one goal.

The next matchup was the Carolina Hurricanes vs. the New Jersey Devils. The Hurricanes won this series in five games. The Hurricanes seemed to enter the playoffs hot and only kept the momentum going with multiple high scoring games.

The Hurricanes will face off against the Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals to determine who will play in the Stanley Cup.

The Western Conference will feature the Dallas Stars and the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

The Stars played the Seattle Kraken to a seven-game series. The games were tightly contested but a balanced approach to the game paired with the combination of young stars and veterans led the Stars to victory.

The Golden Knights played the Edmonton Oilers. The Knights won a shootout series with many goals being scored by the generational talents of Oiler Connor McDavid and Golden Knight Jack Eichel.

The Knights will go against the Stars in what could be a thrilling Western Conference Finals.

Junior Conall Fisher said, “I’m rooting for the underdog Panthers to win it all, but the conference finals have good matchups with great teams.,”

The NHL conference finals will start on May 18 and set the stage for the Stanley Cup.
