(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Eleven LRHS Mustangs were awarded scholarships for Peer Tutoring and Blood Drive efforts this year.
Mustangs who worked above and beyond in Peer Tutoring were each awarded $500 scholarships from Cool Today and the DiDomenico family in memory of James W. Gorham IV, a USF Tutor.
Listed below are those who received the $500 Peer Tutoring Scholarship –
- Senior Hoang Pham
- Senior Britlee Yant
- Senior Alyssa Soderberg
- Senior Tiffany McCoy
Yant said, “I am so excited to receive this Peer Tutoring Scholarship. It will help me pay for the expenses of college and my plans for the future.”

Those in Blood Drive that stood out in their applications were each awarded $345 from Suncoast Blood for Blood Drives.
Listed below are those that received the $345 scholarship from Suncoast Blood –
- Senior Madelyn Hotaling
- Senior Dakota Wernet
- Senior Olivia Heim
- Senior Jasmine Burden
- Senior Jackson Fox
“I’ve had a lot of fun volunteering in the blood drive this year and helping my community, so getting a scholarship for it feels really cool,” Fox said.
The top two LRHS applicants who stood out for their contribution to the Blood Drive were awarded an additional $370 each from Bubba Saves Lives, an organization formed by parents to build seat belt awareness in honor two LRHS seniors, Brett Wagner and Josh Rogers, who died in a Christmas Day car crash before their scheduled 2012 graduations.
The two that were awarded both the $345 Suncoast Blood scholarship and $370 Bubba Saves Lives scholarship are –
- Senior Kate Tuchman
- Senior Tanner Sobecki-McMullen
These seniors will be awarded these scholarships at the Senior award ceremony on Wednesday, May 10.
