(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Over the years, LRHS has trained athletes to succeed beyond the school’s athletic programs and pursue their sport professionally.

The latest Mustang success was (now) Louisiana State University’s LaDazhia Williams, who helped her team win an NCAA basketball title and was then drafted into the WNBA.

Other former Mustangs who played or are playing professionally are as follows –

  • Samuel Jackson – Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Former MLB player (Mets, Nationals, Pirates, White Sox’s)
  • Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie – Former NFL Player (Arizona Cardinals)
  • Austin Reiter- Kansas City Chiefs (two-time Super Bowl Champion)

Athletic director Kent Ringquist said, “I had the opportunity to coach the two who played or are playing football in the NFL (Dominique Rodgers Cromartie and Austin Reiter). Huge Fans, even though it might not be one of my favorite teams.”

LRHS boys golf coach Dave Frantz said several former Mustangs have tested the professional waters, often as golf pros.

“I would guess I have at least 10-15 former players who are professional golfers. Those fall into two categories – those who play golf for money, and those who work at a club or similar business giving lessons, working in the Golf Shop, etc.

I do currently still have at least one golfer who makes a living [on the PGA tour], Danny Walker.”

Frantz added that over a dozen Mustangs have PGA memberships.

Ringquist said “We all have the ability to be at the top of our game in our professional careers, whatever that might be.”
