Ranch Reflections are articles written by LRHS students and staff who want to share their experiences, thoughts, and concerns. This is a great opportunity for Mustangs to branch out beyond traditional news stories.  This edition features a conversation between a graduating Mustang and her loving mom.

Jessica Kobetitsch – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As the end of the school year approaches, senior Mustangs wait anxiously for graduation and their last days of high school. But what will their parents do, once their children graduate and move on?

Next year, I will be attending the University of Central Florida, along with my older brother. But my mom will continue teaching at Lakewood Ranch High as both her children go off to college.

“I’ve had a child with me at school for the last 10 years, so the thought of being alone next year is just…” my mom started to cry just at the thought.

My mom is so very proud of my brother and I for everything that we’ve accomplished. But at the same time, she can’t imagine the thought of both of us moving out.

Many parents are faced with the same dilemma. Parents are proud to see their kids move on and grow up, but it’s so difficult to part with someone that you’ve spent your entire life raising.

I thank my mom and dad for everything they’ve done for me, and I’m glad to make them proud as I start the next chapter of my life.
