(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS is hosting the school’s second annual Empty Bowls event with the goal of collecting donations for Manatee Meals on Wheels PLUS.

The event takes place from 2:30 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 in the hallway outside of room 509. It is open to the public.

As participants arrive and present a check made out to LRHS for $30, they will be able to pick out one handmade bowl to take home.  They can also enjoy snacks that the students have provided, and music from the school’s chorus and band.

Mustangs in ceramics 1 classes made decorative (food safe) ceramic bowls with their friends in class to donate to this event.

Empty Bowls supports food-related charitable organizations around the world and has raised millions of dollars to help end hunger.

LRHS ceramics teacher Laura Victore said, “This is a great way for students to learn about hunger and food insecurities in our very own community.”

Victore said the best way for students to get involved is to go to the event to show support by buying some bowls.
