(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS math teacher Ann Fleury won local U.S. House Representative Vern Buchanan’s Congressional Teaching Award this year.

Every year, a handful of teachers in Buchanan’s congressional district are nominated to receive the award. Fleury was one of this year’s winners.

Fleury said, “I work with an outstanding group of teachers here at the LRHS and I am just one of many that deserve this award and am honored that I have been recognized for this prestigious award.

“I am very proud to represent LRHS and our faculty and staff,” Fleury continued.

Fleury will be awarded with a plaque recognizing her dedication to teaching that will be hung in the US capital building.  

Last year, LRHS science teacher Tammy Harper received the award.

LRHS has also recognized Fleury as the May “Mustang of the Month.’  The award is presented by the administration to faculty making a special contribution to the school.  Fleury is senior class adviser and is organizing LRHS’s senior and graduation activities.
