Angel Markoski – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Track and Field team participated in the 4A Districts Championship last Saturday and 21 Mustangs qualified for regionals.
This is a big step for the team and for the coaches. In the past years, the team has not had these many qualifiers for regionals and the coaches are proud of themselves and of the team.
The girls 4×800 meter relay ended up taking second place with a time of 10:22.24 in the meet and beating their personal record with 27 seconds.
LRHS freshman Skyler Quigley said, “I’m so proud of the girls 4×800 and our progress throughout this season. I can’t wait to see what regionals will hold and I am looking towards the future with these girls.”

Mustangs Levi Freed and Connor Resch took first and second place in the boys javelin with throws of 47.70 and 43.28.
Simon Freed took fourth place in the boys discuss with a throw of 40.98 meters.
Madison Adams placed fourth in the girls’ javelin with a throw of 29.60, her goal is to break the school record as she is very close.
In the boys shot put, Kevin Everheart took home third place and walked away with a medal after throwing 14.40 meters.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Mackena Murack placed fourth with a time of 17.05 seconds.
Olivia Spiegel also placed fourth in the 1600-meter with a time of 5:33.62 after the 4×800-meter relay.
The boys 4×100 meter relay team (also known as the 400m relay) placed fourth with a new PR of 43.64. They are one second off the school record and they hope to beat it by the end of the season.
Luca Ruis ended up taking fourth place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.27 after helping the 4×100 relay team take home fourth place.
Derek Robinson walked away with a medal in the 800 meter run taking second place with a time of 1:59.13.
Finally, the boys 4×400 meter relay took home fourth place with a time of 3:28.44.
The track and field team are looking forward to putting hard work into practice and to doing even better at regionals.
