(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Mustangs Softball team won their two games last week.
The first game of the week was against Calvary Christian and the Mustangs won 5-2. Earlier in the season, the Mustangs suffered a 4-2 loss against them.
This home game was also Sponsor Night. During sponsor night, former LRHS coach T.J. Goelz was inducted into the team Wall of Fame outside the field.
During the ceremony, Goelz was given a home plate with various pictures on it. He was awarded a large poster listing his accomplishments that will be hung on the wall next to the three other posters.
Junior Ella Dodge got the start and pitched six innings with five strikeouts and only allowed two hits. Freshmen Olivia Carr came in and pitched in relief and had two strikeouts.
Junior Grace Shaw-Rockey was 2-4 with two Runners Batted In (RBIs) and scored the first run of the game with a single through the five-six hole.
Shaw-Rockey said, “Calvary is tough opponent, and so it was a good feeling to get the scoring going in the first inning. I think it really set the tone for the game, and we ended up taking the win and honoring Coach TJ with it.”
