(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Tampa Bay Rays currently have the best record in Major League Baseball, and started the season 13-0, tying the MLB post-1900 record for the most wins to start a season.  It was also the longest winning streak in the history of the franchise.

LRHS sophomore Heyden Kudelko said, “As a longtime Rays fan it’s awesome to see the team start off the season so well, and hopefully the team can bring home a pennant or a World Series trophy.”

The Rays’ dominance was attributed to their run differential of plus 71, being just the sixth team ever to record a plus 71 run differentials during any 13-game span since 1900. Out of their first 117 innings, the Rays trailed in only six.

LRHS Senior Paul Fisichella said “It’s great to watch history unfold so close to home. This team seems to be unstoppable right now and are on their way to a great season that I am excited to watch.”
