(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Lakewood Leaders and National Honors Society (NHS) are preparing “Night with the Stars” Prom for the special needs program.
The prom is scheduled from 6:30 – 10 p.m. Friday at Woodland Community Church Night.
This annual prom is free to all special needs residents 16 and older in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.
Sophomore Sydney Oostendorp plans to volunteer. She said, “At 5:30 p.m. the Lakewood Leaders group is heading over to the church to set up.
“There will be a red carpet at the entryway to walk down, decorations, gourmet food, table service, music, and photos.”
Other individuals donate their time and talent by doing hair and makeup for prom-goers so they can be confident and happy.

Board President of the Night with the Stars Prom program Mary Anne McDevitt said, “Every detail of the prom is provided by the generosity of people in the community through their time and tax-deductible donations of money, goods, and services.”
The event is a great way to celebrate special needs students in the community and a special event for the end of the school year.
