(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The varsity softball team won their two games last week.

The first game was against For Meyers High School at Fort Meyers. The Mustangs won 4-2.

Junior Ella Dodge pitched a full seven innings and had nine strikeouts, no walks, and only allowed five hits.

Dodge said, “It felt great pitching yesterday. The energy was so high, and we were all hyping each other up and having each other’s backs.”

The team also did a great job at the plate with nine hits on the night.

Junior Leah James scored the first run of the game after she got a lead off hit and scored on an overthrow to second.

James said, “It felt great to start the rally and I knew the girls behind me would keep it going. It brought our energy up and when that happens, we become very hard to beat.”

The second game of the week was against Riverview High School at home. The team won 16-0 in a four-inning run rule.

Senior Peyton Knight got the start and pitched a no hitter.

Knight said, “Throwing a no hitter felt really good, especially for it being my first one.”
