(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – With registration forms turned in and the 2022-23 school year coming to an end, LRHS counselors and administrators have begun forming Mustangs’ schedules for the upcoming school year.
Forming schedules is a hefty task that requires close attention to each student’s requests, while assuring they meet the prerequisites to enter the course, and that there is enough space in the teacher’s location.
“Creating a mastery schedule is like playing Jenga. You have a fixed allocation and a variety of requests that create conflicts. One wrong move and the build collapses,” said LRHS Assistant Principal Jeanne Galindo, who heads the effort.
“Counselors and the administrative team enter course requests. Department chairs analyze their teacher allocation and based on course requests, assign teachers to sections,” continued Galindo.
This process takes a little over five months and coordinates schedules for over 2,400 students. The schedules are finalized one week before the school year starts and Mustangs are informed of their new classes in homeroom on the first day of school.

Teachers should expect to know what courses they will teach the upcoming year by the end of this school year.
Mustangs with any questions or concerns about their schedules can meet with their guidance counselor to make adjustments at the beginning of the year.
