Ryan Hanson– Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS band and color guard programs have enjoyed a run of success.
The LRHS Winter Guard got first place at a Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC) show on March 18 and second place at a FFCC show on March 11.
The LRHS Jazz Band 1 received an excellent rating at a State Jazz Music Performance assessment on March 20.
The following Mustangs participated at State Solo & Ensemble on March 20 and earned the rating of superior with distinction –
- JJ Hughes – Trombone Solo
- Kyle Roundy – Snare Drum Solo
- Kyle Roundy – Mallet Solo
- Brandon Smith – Baritone Saxophone Solo
- Ben Lento and Chase Heffner – Percussion Duet
The following Mustangs participated at State Solo & Ensemble on March 20 and earned the rating of superior –
- Katie Powers – Flute Solo
- Emorie Lawrence – Flute Solo
- Virginia Frisbie – Alto Saxophone Solo
- Virginia Frisbie – Soprano Saxophone Solo
- Carter Dailey – Trombone Solo
- Max Rizzo – Flag Solo
- Jasmine Burden – Rifle Solo
- Tristan Ambler, Kathleen Cravens, Virginia Frisbie and Brandon Smith – Saxophone Quartet
- LRHS Winter Guard – Indoor Guard Superior

Sophomore Madison Shirley said, “We all put in so much effort and worked outside of practice hours to make sure that we would do well in this competition.
“When it came to this one, we were terrified, we hadn’t performed our show in that big of an arena. We were confident and went out with that energy,” she continued.
