(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Drama director Roxane Caravan won the Sherry Lawrence Theatre Education award at Manatee Arts Education Council’s “Arts Alive” ceremony Monday.

The Sherry Lawrence Theatre is awarded to local drama teachers.

Throughout her 23 years as an educator, Caravan has directed over 100 musicals and plays.

“I feel so honored to be the recipient of this arts award,” Caravan said.

At the ceremony Mustang Players performed two poems, “Water” and “A Little Warmth,” followed by ‘I Got You’ from the musical “Bring it on.”

Caravan continued, “It was great to have my students perform at the event.”

Caravan has led Troupe 6020 to many awards and helped them gain recognition over the years.
