(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) club is leaving Friday for their state leadership conference in Orlando.
FCCLA is a career and technical student organization with a focus on fostering leadership skills in family and consumer sciences.
The organization is geared towards those looking to pursue a career in the subject.
At the FCCLA state competition, the chapters present their individual projects to a panel of judges in hopes to win either bronze, silver, or gold awards.
The teams have worked on their projects all year.
Mustang FCCLA secretary and junior Tess Lippincott said, “I’m excited to compete for my second year. Our chapter has worked so hard on our projects, and I hope we do really well.”
Some of the events that FCCLA will be competing in include Hospitality and Tourism, Chapter and Service, and Sports and Nutrition.
Not only will this state conference include competitions, but it will also include workshops where students will learn more about family and consumer sciences.

Nationals will take place on July 6 in Denver, Colorado. Those who win gold for their state events qualify for nationals.
Mustangs will return Monday, Mar. 27.
