Conall Fisher – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- It is the time of year when the gaggle of geese grace the LRHS campus with their presence.
The geese are a great addition to the courtyard. Their carefree waddling raises the mood of all who look upon them.
Mustangs love having the geese around. They make for a wonderful spectacle in between classes.
Junior Jackson Alexander Fairley said, “I love the geese. They are fun to look at.”
Some Mustangs make sure the geese enjoy their time at Lakewood Ranch. They toss bread and other bits of food, making sure the geese are well fed.
When the geese are happy, so are the students.
Junior Logan Anthony Scott said, “Those geese make me really happy. I have never been so thrilled to see a goose.”
The geese mark a ceremonial start to spring. They are Lakewood Ranch’s own Punxsutawney Phil for 2023.

Although the animals can be intrusive, it is heartwarming to see students let the geese have their peace even when they tread on student pathways.
Sophomore Heyden Kudelko said, “I like the geese, they add a sense of wilderness to the concrete jungle of LRHS, and it’s nice how everyone collectively lets them be.”
