Dakota Wernet- Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity baseball team brought home a win last Friday.

The team played against the Manatee High School Hurricanes on the LRHS field.

The Mustangs were behind 3-0 after the fifth inning.

During the sixth inning, the Mustangs came together and finished strong.

Junior Mustangs Andy Schroeder and Ryan Kaitz brought the Mustangs back after multiple base hits.

The Mustangs ended the game with a 5-4 win.

While at bat, Schroeder said, “All I was thinking was, ‘Drive these two runs in.’”

Kaitz said, “It felt amazing knowing that we just came back and scored three runs to win the game as a team and that I had the winning hit.”

The team had their first loss of the season Tuesday night against Parish Community High School 1-0.

The Mustangs (2-1) will play at 7 p.m. Thursday against Braden River High School.

Their following game will be at 4 p.m. against Cardinal Mooney High School.
