(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS book club had their first meeting of 2023 this week.

The club includes Mustangs from every grade level.  They meet every Tuesday after school and discuss books together.

The club has read one book together so far. They read books of every genre to keep everyone engaged with what they are reading.

LRHS media specialist and club adviser Audrey Dombroski said, “The group has just finished their first book (which was given to them for free), ‘The Inheritance Games.’”

Senior Alyssa Gonzalez said, “I am so excited for book club to start. I love reading and I cannot wait to talk about the books I have read, there characters, and the plot.”

Their next choice is “You’d Be Home Now,” a selection from the Florida Teens Read state list.

The Florida Teens Read state list is comprised of 15 titles chosen by a committee of 14 school librarians specifically to engage high school students.

“The group is working on a design for a t-shirt. I was able to secure a grant from Manatee Education Foundation to start this club,” continued Dombroski.

The club meets after school every Tuesday in the media center.  Dombrowski said they hope to attract new members.
