Cassidy McLellan – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – I remember playing my first ever softball game on the high school field when I started playing recreational ball.
Softball has done so much for me. It has taught me to work hard and introduced me to some of my best friends.
I have been playing softball since I was six years old.
Now I am 18, a senior, and playing my last ever season of high school softball. This is the last season I will play a game on the high school field.
Although I will be playing softball at the University of Florida, the ending of high school softball still feels like the ending of an era.
It has also given me so many amazing memories. One of my favorite memories is winning states, not once, but twice.
Throughout my high school career, I had the privilege of being coached by one of the best coaches in the game.
Coach TJ Goelz taught me to work hard, to be a good teammate, and to be extremely dedicated. He helped shape me into the person and player that I am today.

Softball has also created a great bond between me and my parents. My dad is always trying to help me get better and my mom is my biggest supporter.
My parents will still support me and push me to be better, but it is going to feel different since I will be 2.5 hours away from them.
I am excited to continue playing softball at UF, but it is sad that I am in my last year of high school softball.
