LRHS Assistant Principal Thomas Bellantonio addresses parents interested in dual enrolled classes

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Monday, LRHS held an informative meeting for students and parents to learn more about the school’s Dual Enrollment (DE) opportunities.

During this meeting, officials spoke about different colleges that Mustangs can enroll in. These colleges are University of South Florida (USF), State College of Florida- Manatee/Sarasota (SCF), and Manatee Technical College (MTC). Approximatelyt 250 people attended the session.

The schools offer a variety of on campus and off campus classes for LRHS students.

This meeting had speakers from several colleges, and LRHS counselors provided overall details of the courses and the process needed to enroll.

There are numerous steps and requirements needed to enroll in dual enrollment.  These can be found on the LRHS website.

LRHS history and journalism teacher Thomas Honsa teaches at LRHS and on the SCF campus.

“Dual enrollment gives students college experience from college instructors, and they have twice as much in class time as they would for in class on the SCF campus,” Honsa said.

Honsa provided details about the DE classroom experience.

Sophomore Nick Drizos said, “The meeting helped me understand what I want to do with the rest of my high school years.”
