Dakota Wernet– Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Precision Rifle Team season ended earlier this month.

LRHS Rifle team dedicated after school hours to make their way to the state level competition.

Rifle competitors include:

  • Daniel Rawlings (11)
  • Ki Pham (12)
  • Holden Pollock (12)
  • Juan Knuth (12)

The Rifle team is advised by LRHS JROTC instructor Master Sgt. William Cassidy. 

The competition was held at Island Coast High School in Cape Coral.

With over 200 rifle teams in the state of Florida, a total of 26 teams competed.

Knuth said, “I have been on rifle for three years and it was definitely stressful and interesting how the competition was set up since it was different than other competitions we go to.”

LRHS ended the competition in seventh place.

Cassidy said, “The shooters had a great season and we’re extremely proud of them.”
