(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Two LRHS girls weightlifters are headed to the state finals.
Junior Madison Vassallo and freshman Alexis Rissler qualified for the FHSAA Class 3A State Championships on Feb. 17-18 in Lakeland, Florida. Vassallo qualified for the state final and Rissler placed fifth overall at the regional championships.
Members of the LRHS girls varsity weightlifting team competed in the Class 3A Region 3 Championship last Thursday at Charlotte High School.
A total of 10 lifters met the qualification in order to qualify for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Regional Championship. All 10 lifters who qualified got to reach their personal records.
Mustang weightlifting coach Elijah Weaver said, “I am super proud of our girls. We were able to get 2 of our girls qualified for states and were so very close from sending a 3rd.”
