(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Thursday the LRHS Blood Drive Committee partnered with Suncoast Blood Centers to host the school’s third blood drive of the year.
Suncoast Blood Centers is a local blood bank which donates blood to local hospitals and organizations.
Over 130 students signed up for the blood drive as well as several faculty members.
Every pint of blood donated saves up to three lives.
Blood Drive Committee adviser and LRHS keyboard teacher Rebekah Lester is proud of the first-time donors.
“It is good that there were many students who came to donate blood. It is a great way to give back to our community,” Lester said.

Senior Danielle Morgan had a great experience donating blood.
“It went really smoothly, and the nurses and volunteers made sure I was doing okay,” Morgan said.
Suncoast Blood Centers donor group representative David Husak thanked the committee for organizing this blood drive and it being successful.
“This blood drive was a great success. All the blood collected stays local and will be donated to local hospitals such as Lakewood Ranch Memorial,” Husak said.
The next blood drive is scheduled for April 13, and Mustangs over age 16 can donate.
