Faith Miller – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Last Saturday, the LRHS Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Orienteering team competed in its first meet of the season at Greenbrook Adventure Park.
The LRHS JROTC Orienteering team earned first place in each of the running levels: yellow – novice, orange – intermediate, and green – advanced. These placements led to the team earning first place overall for the competition.
The following is a list of the individual champions (by gender) on the LRHS Orienteering team –
Yellow (Novice) category
- Ingrid Pope
- Shannon Schroeder
- Audrey Weeks, Gino Tambe
Orange (Intermediate) category
- Jeanne Tovar, Jaden Lungu
- Heidi Stenberg, Juan Knuth
- Sophia D’Orazio
Green (Advanced) category
- Samantha Rees
- Alyssa Bell, Mudathir Osman
- Ana Abreu, Thomas Grayam
Charlie Company freshman Ingrid Pope said, “I excelled at this meet in a way I honestly wasn’t expecting. I am extremely satisfied with getting first place at the beginning of the season, and I am hopeful that I can place again at my next meet.”
Battalion Commander senior Samantha Rees said, “I am very proud of our team this past weekend! All the hard work put into the practices paid off here, and the female team swept the competition for all three divisions.

The LRHS JROTC Orienteering team will compete next at North Port High School on Saturday, Feb. 4.
