Ranch Reflections are articles written by LRHS students and staff who want to share their experiences, thoughts, and concerns. This is a great opportunity for Mustangs to branch out beyond traditional news stories. This edition features a Mustang’s participation in national esports playoffs.
Ethan Kranert– Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS esports program is fun for me because it is something I enjoy doing, and it is fun to play with friends.
I was recently elected president of the club and am very proud of the club’s performance this season. One of the benefits of being a part of esports means that I am part of a community.
As the President of the club, it is very important to me to get to succeed in my competitions. That is why I was overjoyed when I made it to the playoffs in EGF’s High School Super Smash Bros. Tournament.
To get there, I had to compete against seven other players, each from different schools. I played one match a week for seven weeks, so I played against all the players in my bracket.

I have been playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate since Christmas of 2018, so around four years. I joined Mustang esports club during my freshman year, and I plan to continue with the club through my senior year.
Even though I lost my first playoff game of the season, I have a loser’s bracket game coming up this weekend. I hope to be successful.
