Sydney Oostendorp- Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Monday the Lakewood Leaders made their way to Manatee Elementary School to spend some time with the younger students.
Mustang volunteers participated in a variety of activities including reading to the children, decorating cookies, and playing games.
Throughout the day these children and volunteers took turns switching rooms and activities so all the children could experience every activity.
Sophomore Sarah Mullin said, “The best part of the experience was seeing how much of an impact the volunteers had on the kids.”
Kindergartener Genesis said, “My favorite part was decorating the cookies so I could eat them.”

The children were all given a sugar cookie and some frosting, along with a variety of sprinkles to decorate their own cookie in any way their hearts desired. They then were able to enjoy their treat.
“All the kids were so thankful and respectful, and it was an experience I will never forget,” Mullin added.
