(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- College bound LRHS seniors are looking for ways to pay for their education.

LRHS College Career Coordinator Dr. Carmen Purpus believes every senior should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

It is required for federal loans, grants, and work-study programs. Mustangs who plan to work on college campuses are required to complete the FAFSA.

Some colleges use FAFSA information as a deciding factor for students who are on the borderline for merit scholarships but do not qualify for aid.

Not only that, but financial situations could also change for the student and the student’s family at any time, which is just another reason it is important to file the FAFSA every year the student is in college.

Purpus said, “Completing it and having it sent to every school you are considering helps students make better decisions about college.

“Students do not have to accept aid that is offered but most students do qualify for loans,” continued Purpus.

The FAFSA is free and takes about 30 minutes to complete.
