(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Blood Drive Committee partnered with Suncoast Blood Centers to host their second blood drive of the year Thursday.

Committee adviser and LRHS keyboard teacher Rebekah Lester was proud to see students giving back to their community.

“Anytime we have a blood drive and give blood to our community is an amazing thing. Huge thanks to everybody who donated, this is a great gift especially around the holiday season,” Lester said.

There were many first-time donors. Junior Emorie Lawrence had a positive experience donating for the first time.

“The nurses on the bus were very kind and I got free snacks and Gatorade,” Lawrence said.

Suncoast Blood Centers donor group representative David Husak was proud of the LRHS Blood Drive Committee as a whole.

“The committee did an outstanding job during the lunches to recruit over 140 students to sign up to donate. The day of the drive, the committee met us here with open arms and helped set up and sign people in,” Husak said.

The next blood drive will be scheduled during the second semester.
