(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) female raider team will compete at the Florida State Raider Championship Competition at Camp Flaming Arrow.
The female team took first place overall during the county A-5 meet.
JROTC Raiders is a highly intensive fitness competition that involves five team events: the 5K run, the one-mile liter carry, the obstacle course, the tire flip, and the rope bridge.
Raider team member and Battalion S-1 sophomore Audrey Weeks said, “This has been my first year on the Raider team, and I have felt extremely welcomed and involved.
“Our communication and internal motivation as a team has improved immensely from the first meet, and I know that we can improve our 5K time and win first place at states this year.”
Raider team captain and Bravo Company Commander senior Karen Tinoco said, “The team has been working really hard, trying to prepare for the upcoming state competition, despite bumps in the road from the injured and sick members of our team.”

Tinoco continued, “I trust that my team will recover in time for our state competition and having been the captain of the team during the state competition last year, I am prepared for the challenges that will be presented to my team this weekend. I am proud of this team, and I am confident they will strengthen the Lakewood Ranch legacy.”
