(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Marching Mustangs won fourth place at the Florida Marching Band Championships (FMBC) State Championship over Thanksgiving break.

Their show ‘Dark Waters’ received a score of 88.8 and was performed in the pouring rain.

Along with their high score, they also placed first in ensemble music captions, second overall in music, second in percussion and third in general effects.

LRHS band director John Schindler said, “I feel good about the competition, you never know how you’re going to do against some of those groups from as far down as Miami.”

Last year the band placed seventh in the same competition.

“To place fourth with such a completive group at FMBC is incredible and I feel great about how we placed and performed,” Schindler continued.

Band Caption Nate Van Peenan said, “It was raining a ton and I’m proud that we had a good run, it’s been a great season.”
