Cassidy McLellan – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) organized ‘The Facts. Your Future.’ assembly for LRHS senior Mustangs Thursday.
This event engaged and educated students to improve their understanding of the life-altering effects of drugs and alcohol abuse.
The goal is to empower students to make well-informed, educated decisions about their future.
LRHS Principal Dustin Dalquist said, “This impactful program will educate the students on the dangers of alcohol and drug use. The assembly will have a profound effect on our students.”
LRHS Assistant Principal Thomas Bellantonio said, “The class of 2023 is one of the highest performing classes and this assembly will really educate them.”
The assembly included guest speakers Director George Schrier, Student Services for the School District of Manatee County, Major Todd Shear with the Manatee County Sheriffs office, Chief Probation Officer Rena Hunkeler, Testimonial Speaker Blake Neathery, and County Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Bencie.

Major Todd Shear said, “I want to leave you with one thing – we are seeing people die in numbers that we have never seen before.
“However, you guys are the greatest generation on the face of the planet, and it will take courage and leadership to make a difference.”
