(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Spanish Club wants to sponsor a child through the “Children International” program for the holidays.

“Children International” is a charitable organization that matches a donor sponsor with a particular child beneficiary.

For the next few months, the club will receive updates on their child’s health.

Members hope to form personal relationships with the recipient.

They plan to make letters and cards to send during the holiday season.

Spanish club President senior Naika Dumorne said, “With this project, our goal is to make an impact on a Hispanic child in need. We hope this will become a special part of our club and hopefully it can continue for next year.”

The goal of the Spanish Club is to immerse members into Hispanic culture and to learn more about different traditions in Latin American countries.

Dumorne continued, “This project is something that is very important to all of us. Besides helping financially, sponsoring offers these children hope that people care enough to invest in their future and lives.

“Most of us don’t know or understand the struggles of poverty to the extent that these children do, and hopefully this project can put that more into perspective.”
