(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Frisbee golf, also known as disc golf, is growing in popularity across Florida.
Frisbee golf is a great sport for those looking for a cost effective yet fun way to pass time.
The rules of the game are quite simple. The same rules of golf apply, but instead of a golf ball, a frisbee is used.
The game was first played at an elementary school because it was a cheap option. The first holes were originally tin lids of trashcans dug into sand to keep in place.
In modern times they have more elaborate holes with chain nets and a basket, making it easier to make it into the hole and making it easier to distinguish whether it went in or it did not.
LRHS sophomore Bella Moscone said, “I liked playing frisbee golf, but I was really bad at it.”
Players play on a much shorter course compared to regular golf because a frisbee does not go as far as a golf ball. The game can be completed in just over an hour.

Frisbee golf is a great option for beginners because it is free to play in many local community parks.
LRHS junior Conall Fisher said, “Frisbee golf is the stuff. It is surprisingly fun to chuck a frisbee and enjoy the fresh air with the game of frisbee golf.”
