Josie Plakyda – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS girls and boys golf teams both finished in the top 10 in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Golf State Championships on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Mission inn, Howey-in-the-Hills.

Due to Hurricane Nicole, the tournament was shortened to a one-day event.

The boys team finished fifth out of 16 teams.

Sophomore Parker Severs shot one over par (73).

Following was sophomore Henry Burbee (75), senior Preston Severs (78), and freshmen A.J. Hovermale (84) and Josh Orgen (80).

The boys ended their season with a record of 118-50.

They advanced to County, District, and Regional Championships in their post-season.

The team will lose their two co-captains seniors Preston Severs and Eli Martin as they are graduating seniors this year.

The girls golf team came in eighth at states with a 333.

The team was led by seniors Jessica Kobetitsch (77) and Lauren Hosier (77), as well as Emily Storm (84) and Sierra Yeomans (95). Individually, Jessica and Lauren tied for 14th place.
