(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) -Numerous LRHS teams participated in state finals competitions this weekend.
Girls cross country finished in 26th place at the FHSAA 4A State Finals on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Tallahassee.
Mustang cross country coach Rae Ann Darling Reed said she was thrilled with the team’s finish.
“I am absolutely delighted that we made it there as a team. The girls did not run their best times at state, but it was a great experience for them so they know what to expect in the future,” she said. “I literally could not have asked for a better season for my first year as a Mustang. Every girl on the team ran her personal best or season best time by the end of this season.”
Meanwhile, two Mustang swimmers made it to state finals. Nicole Majewski finished in 16th place in the 50-meter freestyle and sophomore Jorge Guzman finished 15th in the 100-meter backstroke.

Majewski said, “This year we had the most people qualify for states in about five years, and almost all of those kids had qualified for individual events. It was a great accomplishment to even have had that many kids qualify and then to have two of us move on to finals was even better.”
Guzman said, “Overall I placed 15th in the state for 100-meter back stroke with a time of 53.23 i did better than I was seeded. I’m looking forward to swimming the A final next year.”
Both boys and girls golf teams are competing in state championship finals today at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Lake County .
