(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS girls and boys varsity soccer teams played in a preseason tournament this week.
The boys won 2-0 against Victory Rock Prep and 1-0 against Palmetto High School.
The goals were scored by junior Andrew Scott, senior Gabriel Hodge, and senior Diego Freyre.
Sophomore Luca Blin-March stated, “The team could have played better in the second half of the game on Wednesday. Chemistry needs to kick in and being able to build towards the goal needs to become automatism.
“It was a good game and a bit of a close call, but I think our soccer team this year is great,” Scott added.
The girls won 8-0 against both Riverview High School and Palmetto High School.

The leading goal scorers for the games were junior Sophie Lemus with 4 goals, senior Ella Fetchko with 3 goals, junior Madison Adams with 3 goals, and sophomore Olivia Hadad with 3 goals.
Fetchko said, “I think the team connected very well. While we could have played at a higher level, we were still successful and got the result we wanted.”
The varsity boy’s next game is scheduled for Monday at North Port High School. The girls’ next scheduled game is 7 p.m. Monday against North Port at home.
