LRHS A-Team members discuss strategy

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS academic team (A-Team) placed third at their second meet of the year on Tuesday.

Their competition was held at Palmetto High School.  

The LRHS team is split into two groups, the black team and the green team.

The black team placed third overall, while the green team came in sixth.

Senior Maddie Hotaling said, “I think we figured out some good team dynamics. Our different skills balance out well, which helps cover all of the different subjects the questions are about.”

In the individual results, the top scorers were Hotaling and senior Hoang Pham, both ending with a total of 115.

Hotaling and Pham are both tied for an impressive fifth place cumulatively in the district individual standings after the first two meets. 

Sophomore Jason Albano has 110 points.

Hotaling continued, “My team got third place overall, which was really exciting because that’s the best we’ve done all year.”
