(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- As the holidays approach, many LRHS clubs are getting involved in the Magic of Mittens program.
The Magic of Mittens is an effort to provide holiday gifts to families in need within Manatee County.
Beth Grogan started Magic of Mittens 16 years ago. Grogan’s daughter was attending a new school where one of the students in her class didn’t get any Christmas gifts. Grogan knew from that moment on she would never let another child miss the magic and wonder of the holidays.
“We are a small but mighty group who believe whole-heartedly that every child deserves to experience the magic and wonder of Christmas,” Grogan said
The following LRHS clubs are partnering with the Magic of Mittens –
- Student Government Association
- Girls in White Coats
- Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
- Hope Ambassadors
- LRHS athletic trainers
Magic of Mittens partners with nine schools in Manatee County and helped over 600 kids last year. Each child will receive an outfit including socks, and at least two toys. Children’s wishes range from Legos and dolls to pillows and blankets.

“I love getting young people involved and helping them realize they truly can make a difference through the Magic of Mittens,” continued Grogan.
Grogan explained, “We believe that together, along with the kindness and compassion of others, we can make a difference.” She hopes to inspire teens in the community to spread kindness and help others.
