Lucas Viera – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity football team defeated the Gibbs Gladiators 34-18 last Friday.

With the Mustangs coming off two consecutive losses, this was an important win for the team.

Despite a scoreless first quarter, the Mustangs bounced back by scoring 14 points in the second period.

The team also put up 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Senior Kevin Everhart said, “It’s always nice to get a win on the road and this game meant a lot to us considering our recent results.

“We’re 5-3 now. We are improving anywhere we can in order to win our last two games,” Everhart continued.  

With the regular season coming to an end soon, the Mustangs are hoping to finish on a good note.

The team will face the Bayshore Bruins at 7 p.m. this Friday at Bayshore High School.

Coach Rashad West said, “This week’s game will be a challenge for our guys.

“The challenge will be to continue to prepare and play at the level we have over the past couple of weeks,” he continued.
