Kiarra Leverett – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS girls cross-county team placed fourth at the 4A District championship on Oct. 22 at North Port High School.

The girls will be advancing to the regional meet next Saturday, Oct. 29.

Sophomores Olivia Spiegel and Addison Shea took home top 15 medals placing in fourth and ninth places.

Cross country coach Rae Ann Darling Reed said the team’s “improvement over the past two weeks is very promising as we approach the regional meet.”

The entire team continued to improve their personal best times at the 4A District meet –

  • Olivia Spiegel – 19:16, 4th place
  • Addison Shea – 19:55, 9th (first time under 20:00)
  • Skyler Quigley – 20:57, 23rd (first time under 21:00)
  • Kyleigh Halloran – 22:17, 49th (first time under 23:00)
  • Diana Larion – 22:45, 64th (first time under 23:00)
  • Gabbie Hotaling – 23:26, 77th
  • Erin Hogan – 24:54, 95th (first time under 25:00)

Reed said the regional meet is a chance for the team to continue advancing.

“In this meet, they will need to run their best in order to place in the top 8 and advance to the state finals,” she said. “Their continued success is a result of the hard work and many miles and hills they have run since June.”
