(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS volleyball team won the district semifinal against Sumner High School Tuesday.

The final scores were 25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 26-24.

Head coach Jessica Leupold said, “We really fought hard against Sumner. We were down in the 4th game and could really have given up, but we fought back and won it.”

Freshmen Kora Yanes and senior Tanner Sobecki-McMullen contributed to the comeback in the fourth set.

Leupold continued, “I am extremely proud of all my girls, but it was a special night for Kora Yanes. She played a position she usually does not, and she served under the pressure of game point to bring us back for the win.”

The team is 11-10 for this season.
