(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS math teacher Rennie Finck is bringing the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) fishing club to LRHS for the 2022-2023 school year.

Mustangs can join the club anytime by attending meetings. The next meeting is scheduled after school on Monday, Oct. 24 in room 901.

This club can benefit Mustangs by fostering good fishing understanding and conservation.

Finck said the club has educational benefits, too.

“The goal is to teach students about ethical angling, conservation, Florida’s aquatic habitats, basic fishing gear and general fishing concepts to help create confident and responsible anglers,” she said.

Club meetings include bi- monthly lessons with curriculum developed by FWC.

FWC members can compete against schools statewide by submitting photos of fish catches.

“The club increases school improvement in extracurricular membership by targeting students who enjoy fishing and the outdoors,” continued Finck.

Up to 50 Mustangs can join the club, and some can become officers.
