(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS Principal Dustin Dahlquist released a statement regarding out of field teachers in LRHS to Mustangs and parents.
Florida teacher are certified by the state in specific academic fields. Each field represents basic and enhanced training those teachers receive.
“The School District of Manatee County is committed to providing high quality instruction for all students and does so by employing the most qualified individuals to teach and support each student in the classroom,” said Dahlquist.
Dahlquist said some out-of-field teachers may meet basic state requirements, but lack enhanced but required training in fields such as teaching English Language Learning (ELL) or Exceptional Student Education (ESE) lessons.

“Our teachers are certified to teach although some are currently out-of-field. Teachers listed as out-of-field must work toward additional certification areas before the year’s end. All educators in the state of Florida are monitored to meet certification and training requirements as mandated by law,” said Dahlquist.
Dahlquist is ensuring Mustangs know the professional qualifications of the teachers who instruct students. The list of out-of-field teachers can be found here.
