Sydney Oostendorp – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – During the summer of 2022, the LRHS Mustangs Abroad took a trip across the globe for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The Mustangs spent two weeks traveling abroad in Australia.
They started off their journey in Sydney before flying to Brisbane and taking the bus to Noosa Heads.
They continued up north to Cairns making many stops along the way, some of which included Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Capricorn Caves, and Airlie Beach.
Junior Andrew Boudreau celebrated his sixteenth birthday on this trip.
Boudreau said, “I get to say that on my birthday I was snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef with turtles in Australia.”
Their visit to the Great Barrier Reef was a memorable moment that they will never forget. Mustangs spent the day out in a boat and enjoyed activities like snorkeling.

Sophomore Sarah Mullin said, “I got to meet so many new people, and I made so many connections with people I would not have normally talked to.”
Advanced Placement (AP) Human Geography teacher Samantha Biggs went abroad with these children.
Biggs said, “It’s so cool to watch the kids experience these things through their eyes. They provided me with really interesting perspectives on this trip.”
This trip has given these students many new opportunities to see the world from another culture’s point of view.
Boudreau added, “I made good memories during the portions in the city, the more nature focused parts, and even the multitude of bus rides we endured. All of it was great and I will never forget the trip.”
