(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Communication is an important aspect for both someone’s school and personal life. For LRHS Mustangs, communication can smooth over daily situations.

Many psychologists agree that communication is a key tool to make daily life easier.

Being able to communicate with teachers and other classmates can keep Mustangs informed on all activities that are happening in the classroom.

The Model Teaching website states, “Strong communication can often prevent problems from occurring. Furthermore, regular communication encourages family engagement because it keeps families informed about what is going in the classroom and reinforces a strong connection between school and home.”

Discussing prominent issues can either be an easy or daunting task, it all depends on the situation and how comfortable people are with discussing said issues. Conversation is necessary to establish boundaries.

Effective communication can help Mustangs maintain good relationships with everyone around them, especially with loved ones.

The Better Health website states, “All relationships have ups and downs, but a healthy communication style can make it easier to deal with conflict and build a stronger and healthier partnership. We often hear how important communication is, but not what it is and how we can use good communication in our relationships.”

Sometimes Mustangs find communication difficult.

Student Kylie Caffrey said, “Sometimes communicating can be difficult in between a friendship.”

Caffrey and sophomore Matthew Brown both believe that communication between guys is easier than communication between girls. Communication works differently for everyone.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, boundaries are “something that indicates or fixes a limit or extent.”

Although communication is more than just setting a limit or stopping something, it is a major part. It is important, especially in a personal relationship, to set boundaries on things that bother you. Take time to discuss the issue, rather than reacting verbally or violently.

Leaving an issue undiscussed builds up tension. Uncomfortable conversations avoid uncomfortable situations.

Mustangs should remember to disclose boundaries to friends, teachers, and others in order for easy communication.
