Josie Plakyda – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Both the LRHS boys and the girls golf teams won big this weekend at the Suncoast Invitational at Legacy Golf Course.
The girls team won by 17 strokes, and the boys came runner up to Naples Gulf Coast by 2 shots.
The girls team had multiple wins this weekend. They won the tournament by 17 shots and their record is now an undefeated 7-0.
Along with winning as a team, senior Lauren Hosier won individually shooting 150. Additionally, senior Jessica Kobetitsch got second place individually shooting a 155 and winning the $500 UGE scholarship, and freshman Emily Storm won a “closest to the pin” competition.
Kobetitsch said, “It was a really great experience, and I am so happy that I had the opportunity to play in such a fun event with my team, I’m also so thankful for the scholarship from this event, it’ll be a really big help in college.”

The boys finished as runner-up to Naples Gulf Coast in the 36-hole tournament. They shot an overall 310 at River strand and 298 at Legacy Golf Club, finishing second by two shots.
Parker Severs led the team on Friday with a 74 and AJ Hovermale was the medalist on Saturday with a 73. By beating 6 teams against one loss in the event, the boys Mustangs are now 69-19 for the season.
